My JFL experience started at Laguardia- as it always does. I flew up with the APA guys, Marcus Levy and Andrew Russell, and also Rick Glassman from the NBC show Undateable, who happened to be in New York, and he flew up with his parents. Rick just finished reshooting a new show called A Futile and Stupid Gesture on Netflix. It’s a biopic about the origins of the National Lampoon. He plays Harold Ramis. It’s directed by David Wain and he plays opposite Will Forte. They just finished the reshoots a month ago. Ryan
The funniest standup I’ve ever seen
Frank Skinner’s routine on jealousy changed how I viewed standup. It has everything. Rage, empathy, filth, overapplied logic, tragedy and an exceptional amount of jokes. And the pacing is perfect. It’s five minutes long and he spends four of it on his knees barely even engaging with the audience. It’s like they’re not even there. This is one man going through his crisis for his own sake, not ours, but thankfully we’ve snuck into the therapy session.
The funniest sketch I’ve ever seen
Pretty much every sketch in Cowards. I frequently say “Shake my drink!” and “Try ’ucknall” to myself as I wander around my flat.
The funniest book I’ve ever read
All my favourite books are written by Steve Martin. Pure Drivel probably wins for silliness but The Pleasure of My Company is a masterpiece.

The day ended with a gigantic Comedy Central party that was going strong way into the wee hours with all the poutine you could eat, and incredible corned beef sandwiches courtesy of Schwartz’s.
This is our version of the society pages. Enjoy!
Caught New York buddies Big Jay Oakerson and Sal Vulcano hanging out in the lobby of the Hyatt Hotel. Big Jay has been up here at JFL for 9 days now, performing the Nasty Show every night, three days of What’s Your Fucking Deal with two more to go, and ending every
